Enter to Be Awarded 1 of 2 $1,500 Scholarships from Harrison FCU

This year we will proudly award two local students a $1,500 scholarship through the Sam and Rosie Hanson Scholarship and the Charles and Mitzi Gardner Scholarship. Harrison FCU’s scholarship program has empowered many Harrison District students to further their education and achieve their dreams. Community matters and when we encourage and promote higher education, we are promoting a better future for our students and community as a whole. If you or someone you know is interested in applying for one of our scholarships please follow the instructions for submission. Applications are due by April 30, 2021 at 11:59 p.m. MST.


  • Must be a senior in Harrison District 2  (Sierra High School, Harrison High School, the James Irwin Academy, or Atlas Preparatory School).
  • Must upload all information requested using the form provided on this webpage.


A 1,000-word essay on one of the topics/prompts below is required with each scholarship application:

  • You are a CEO of a company of your choice (fictional or real) in present-day Colorado Springs. What would you do to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in your community and/or company? 
  • You are a CEO of a company of your choice (fictional or real) in present-day Colorado Springs. What are some of your duties and responsibilities in terms of promoting corporate social responsibility? 
  • How have you contributed to the development of your community and/or school? 
  • Diversity, equity, and inclusion has been a hot topic for many communities and organizations. What are some things that you can do to promote DEI as a young adult?
